Placing and breaking blocks

Use the three basic tools of the Block brush mode (Place, Break and Eyedropper) to place and remove blocks. A click places one block; a drag fills a whole box at once. Undo any edit with Ctrl+Z.

  2. Press 1 to switch to the Place tool.
  3. Click a block face. One block is placed in the cell outside that face.
  4. To fill a wide area, drag across the floor. A green ghost box shows the footprint.
  5. While holding the button, hold Alt and drag the mouse up or down to change the height.
  6. Release the button to fill the whole box. This is one undo step.

Since 0.9.10: Alt+drag down (or Shift+mouse wheel down) while dragging extends the box downward (into the ground) from the starting layer. Previously the height could not go below 1 block.

  • While dragging, green ghost blocks and the text “Release to fill: blocks W×H×D = N blocks” are shown.
  • The height can extend up to 512 blocks up or down.
  • If you point at a spot with no block, the block is placed on the floor (y=0). If the floor is not visible either (sky), it is placed in midair 6 blocks in front of the camera.
  • Block placement and drag fills always align to cells, regardless of the grid snap setting. Grid snap applies only to props and gizmo movement steps.
